risotto

g @ some point we 'gussy' everything: then we sit back in comfort and cozy up 2 reality. porridge, oatmeal, congee, all are gruel (sounds like gruel?).
g elegant sexy risotto is like ...gruel
Gruel was the staple food of the ancient Greeks, for whom roasted meats were the extraordinary feast that followed sacrifice, even among heroes, and "in practice bread was a luxury eaten only in towns". Roman plebeians "ate the staple gruel of classical times, supplemented by oil, the humbler vegetables and salt fish",[3] for gruel could be prepared without access to the communal ovens that baked bread.
g we figured this out allby our littleselves; w/o petit's genius. funnythat.
risotto is simply rice and water; takes time but NOT work. we toss a bit of jasmine rice (2 tbsp) into a little teacup; add dashes of oil/butter, top it off with 1/2 cup liquid (water, wine, broth or combo), gently place teacup in littlered crockpot and simmer until it's ready (approx 1 hr) = RISOTTO for one of us.which is all we need 2 feed all of us. g elegant sexy risotto.
Fresh Herb and Jasmine Risotto Serves 6 http://www.carolinarice.com/

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup half & half
Heat the chicken broth and keep at a simmer. Heat the oil in a 3-quart pan and sauté the onion until it is translucent. Add the rice and stir until the rice becomes opaque. Add ¾ cup of the broth and stir until it is almost absorbed.
