cranberry mojito before adding liquor. (photo above). petit mendiant celebrates small victories. cocktails might be created and consumed. this requires new (and pricey) ingredients::: like fresh mint and yes, we have 2 make room for the icecube tray in the overstuffed tiny freezer. necessity is the keyword::: we make 'icecubes' in what?

slice/chop up the plastic trays; if they are not in use making icecubes now due 2 freezer space::: make them into efficient smaller units. the goal is 3 or 4 guys instead of 1. takes abitof effort. we used our trusty utility knife for this job. do it. or go without icecubes. also 2 save time: freeze mint leaves and lime pulp/zest in the cubes (this is not so unique). bottom line is: don't spend any mo$$$ for cocktails. recycle what you already have. we were a bit creative with the following recipe, as well. no rum in the house:: we used marsala wine (a 'fortified' wine with higher % alcohol). and we used a 'dash' of beer instead of soda.

wesocrazy.

like mojitos

enjoy.

Cranberry Blueberry Mojito (from Blueberry Mojito Adapted by StarChefs.com) Yield: 1 drink
1 cup fresh mint leaves
1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar
4 tablespoons blueberries and cranberries
½ cup lemonade (please: lemon juice will do)
Splash soda
1 ounce light rum (used marsala)
½ ounce dark rum (again, marsala)
Mint sprig, to garnish
Lime slice, to garnis
In a tall 16-ounce glass, muddle mint leaves, lime juice and sugar. Add 2 tablespoons of the blueberries/cranberries and mash until juicy. Fill the glass three-quarters with ice. Add lemon juice until the glass is two-thirds full. Add splash of soda, light rum and remaining blueberries/cranberries; stir. Slowly pour dark rum into the drink so it floats on top. Garnish with a sprig of mint and slice of lime; drink immediately.
