in lieu of water: o marsala

we like to (must) stock multi-tasking food/drink in our tiny manhattan hovel @ 101.
cheap is'nt always the solution.
we do a dedicated search (legwork) for affordable magic that can be purchased for a good price and replaced as needed
at that price.
we might buy arugula for more than it's worth.... try to balance the budget: we need more magic than arugula provides.

if you're in the same boat, i recommend marsala as a solid replacement for almost any liquid except vodka, tequila or blue curacao.

we desire florio dry marsala; we usually buy less expensive opici. opici offers excellent dry, sweet and 'blank' options; again we save and buy the one with no 'distinction'.

use marsala in any recipe calling for red wine/white wine/sherry/port/madeira. use it instead of balsamic vinegar in vinaigrette dressing: combine with good olive oil (do spend $$$ on the oil!). splash on butter pecan ice cream or add a dash to strong coffee.

marsala simply works for every little thing.

::: when your imaginary lover leaves you and the need arises for a 'shot of something': ... marsala is fortified (higher alcohol content than wine).
